• How PHYTOPHAGE works
Numerous pharmacological studies and many clinical trials have been carried out regarding the sugar and cholesterol lowering properties of fenugreek; the majority of these studies have confirmed these effects. Apart from the physical effects of fibrous, mucilaginous compounds, and the saponins present in this product, which retard and limit the absorption of carbohydrates and cholesterol, some other compounds in this medicinal supplement have been introduced as the main cause of these effects: the amino acid 4-hydroxy isoleucine, which is the main amino acid present in this product, is mentioned among the main compounds responsible for lowering blood sugar, which exerts its effect through the possible mechanism of stimulating insulin excretion from pancreas. Furthermore, trigonelline and nicotinic acid have been introduced as antidiabetic agents.
