• How HEALCATRIX works
Wounds due to burn are a very common condition. One of the factors aggravating burns is occurrence of infection in the wound. Numerous clinical studies have addressed the use of medicinal plants as an alternative for chemical drugs. In one study on the therapeutic effect of common mallow on burn wound, 6 groups of mice with burn wounds were treated with a cream containing common mallow extract and placebo (separately) for 6, 9, and 16 days. The results indicated that the use of the cream containing common mallow extract for 16 days results in significant progress in the healing of burn wounds in mice. In traditional medicine, also, common mallow has been widely used to treat eczema. Hand eczema is one of the most common skin conditions, for which several treatment methods have been suggested so far, including the use of corticosteroids and antihistamine, the adverse effects of which is widely known. Therefore, in these cases, the use of medicinal plants, which have less adverse effects, is very common. In a clinical study dedicated to this, 50 patients suffering hand eczema were randomly selected and divided into two groups. The first group was treated with a cream containing common mallow extract for six weeks, twice a day, and the second group was treated with placebo for the same duration of time. In this study, redness, inflammation, abrasion of skin, itching, dryness and urticaria were checked and observed in the third and the sixth week of the study. The results showed that the use of common mallow for 6 weeks for hand eczema reduces these symptoms to half, and can therefore be suggested as an efficient, safe alternative for corticosteroids and antihistamines. Apart from anti-inflammatory features, common marigold helps restore and alleviate sensitive and inflamed skins, improve blood circulation and strengthens the skin, as it accelerates and stimulates generation of new cells.
